The Hanze University has opted for disposal of its end-of-life ICT equipment by the ITdonations Foundation. Outdated equipment is deliberately not sent to third world countries, in order to avoid refuse mountains where raw materials from this equipment are recovered in a people-unfriendly manner. Environmental-friendliness is therefore a condition for concluding a contract with a partner. Equipment that no longer works is processed in an environmentally friendly manner by certified companies. Equipment that is still working is refurbished and then sold.
